Aave V4 Launches Equities Hub for Tokenized Stocks as Collateral
Aave V4 has launched an Equities Hub on Base, allowing eligible users to use Coinbase-issued tokenized U.S. equities as collateral to borrow USDC. The initial launch supports seven stocks: Apple, Amazon, Alphabet, Meta, Microsoft, Nvidia, and Tesla. Each token represents a certificate linked to actual shares held at Alpaca Securities, providing holders with economic exposure to real equities. At launch, USDC is the only asset available for borrowing, and users cannot create stock-against-stock borrowing positions. Chainlink supplies the pricing data for collateral valuation, operating around the U.S. equity market week. Access is limited to eligible non-U.S. users in permitted jurisdictions, meaning U.S. retail users cannot borrow against these stocks through DeFi. Aave's Equities Hub represents a significant step in integrating tokenized equities into decentralized finance.
