Arthur Hayes: The Decline of Euro Against Yen Signals Fed's Accelerated Money Printing Favoring Bitcoin

By: cryptohayes.substack.com|2026/09/03 01:33:00

Arthur Hayes points out in his article "Atención" that U.S. Treasury Secretary Bessent is pushing the Euro against the Yen (EURJPY) down from the current level of 185 to below 140 through a series of maneuvers, which could trigger a massive injection of dollar liquidity, benefiting Bitcoin and the crypto market. Hayes analyzes that France is the weakest economy in Europe, with government spending accounting for about 60% of GDP, heavily reliant on foreign capital financing. The Target2 deficit has shifted from being a net creditor country to the largest debtor country, and French bank stocks have begun to decline. If French banks reduce repurchase loans due to capital outflows, it will lead to a surge in repurchase rates, forcing the Fed to expand the scale of reverse repurchase (RMP) purchases. The Maelstrom fund's position strategy is to structurally go long on Bitcoin, with short-term bets on Ethereum targeting $10,000, Ethena targeting $0.5, and Ether.fi targeting $2.
