Bank of Japan to Assess Inflation Rate Target of 2% in Next Week's Meeting

The Bank of Japan will evaluate whether the underlying inflation rate has reached the 2% target at its policy meeting next week. If confirmed, it will mark the end of the bank's long-standing monetary policy aimed at combating deflation. The Bank of Japan first set the 2% inflation target in January 2013, and despite implementing aggressive monetary easing measures, it has repeatedly postponed the expected timeline for achieving this goal. If the target is finally reached, it will have been nearly 14 years since it was first proposed.
