Bitwise Raises Bitcoin Price Prediction to $1.6 Million by 2036
Bitwise Asset Management has increased its long-term forecast for Bitcoin, now expecting the price of the cryptocurrency to reach approximately $1.6 million by 2036. This new estimate comes as Bitcoin has lost over 50% of its value over the past year, having fallen below $59,000 in June 2026. Bitwise has raised its expected compound annual growth rate from 28.3% to 34.3%. Matt Hogan, Bitwise's Chief Investment Officer, and Ryan Rasmussen, the head of research at the firm, identified two main factors contributing to the increased estimated value of Bitcoin: the expansion of potential markets and increased institutional adoption. Bitwise estimates the global market for store-of-value assets to be around $110 trillion by 2036. The estimate for the institutional investment market has also increased from $216 trillion to $303 trillion. Despite these developments, Bitwise has not increased its hypothetical market share for Bitcoin compared to its previous report and continues to regard risks such as gold's dominance in attracting new capital and the potential for severe price declines as serious concerns. Bitcoin's share of the global store of value market has risen from less than 1% to over 5% over the past decade.
