Buterin Helps Fund COVID-19 Vaccine with Shiba Inu Tokens
Vitalik Buterin, the co-founder of Ethereum, has contributed to the funding of a vaccine against the COVID-19 virus using capital obtained from donated Shiba Inu tokens. The biotechnology company PopVax has announced that this program is supported by a $20 million grant from Buterin's Balvi Scientific Fund and the Gates Foundation. The first two volunteers received the initial dose of the vaccine on August 31 in Melbourne, Australia. Part of the project's funding comes from the Balvi Fund, which initially received its capital from Shiba Inu tokens. Buterin burned 90% of these assets and allocated about $1 billion of them to the India Relief Fund. Suham Sankaran, the founder of PopVax, stated that the company will release the vaccine as open-source after the completion of the first phase of human trials. On the other hand, the price of Shiba Inu has decreased by 4.33% in the last 24 hours, with a 9.64% drop over the past week. The Shiba Inu team believes that forced selling in the cryptocurrency market has exacerbated the price decline. Despite this drop, the project team reports early signs of a potential return to an upward trend.
