CAC 40 Reaches New High at 8613.82 Points
The CAC 40 closed at 8613.82 points, up 1.22%, extending a series of record highs. This upward trend is supported by a calming geopolitical context, particularly discussions about resuming negotiations with Iran, leading to a drop in oil prices. Corporate earnings have also contributed to this momentum, with Bayer recording an unexpected quarterly operating profit increase of over 4%, and BP showing a strong rise in its second-quarter profit. On the Paris market, Soitec and STMicroelectronics surged by 6.1% and 3.4%, respectively, boosted by Palantir's results. However, not all sectors are thriving. The airline sector is struggling, with Lufthansa falling 10% after cautious forecasts for 2026, and Air France-KLM losing 3%. Zalando also disappointed, with a 16% drop following a downward revision of its annual growth outlook.
