Circle brings USDC and EURC payments to SAP
Circle has partnered with SAP-backed Tereina to bring USDC and EURC payments into SAP business software, starting with SAP Pay and SAP Cloud ERP.
Summary
- Circle and Tereina will integrate USDC and EURC into SAP Pay for eligible enterprise customers.
- SAP says its customers generate 84% of global commerce, giving the integration extensive enterprise reach.
- Arc will serve as the preferred blockchain for the partnership's initial stablecoin payment workflows globally.
- USDC circulation stood at $74.1 billion on October 5, according to Circle's latest reserve data.
- Tereina and Circle plan customer pilots, training programs, and enterprise stablecoin studies over coming months.
Circle announced the agreement on Oct. 7, saying eligible companies will be able to send and receive stablecoin payments through applications they already use. USDC will serve as the preferred stablecoin for eligible dollar-denominated payments, while EURC will support euro-denominated activity.
The companies said Arc, Circle's Layer 1 blockchain, will be the preferred blockchain for the initial payment workflows. Tereina and Circle plan to begin customer proof-of-value programs over the coming months before expanding implementations.
Circle brings stablecoins directly into SAP Pay
The partnership connects Circle's stablecoins with SAP Pay, which Tereina operates inside SAP Cloud ERP. Finance teams can therefore access supported stablecoin payment functions without moving transactions into a separate application.

SAP describes SAP Pay as an embedded payment service capable of handling traditional rails alongside stablecoins such as USDC. The platform can execute payments and reconcile them against invoices or purchase orders inside existing SAP workflows.
Current SAP Pay capabilities cover more than 40 currencies and 89 payment corridors. The product supports ACH, wire transfers, checks, electronic funds transfers and stablecoin payments through one connection, according to SAP.
SAP says customers can use a pre-integrated Circle Mint account for USDC payments. Payment execution runs through SAP workflows, while companies retain control over payment timing, currency and method.
Circle's Oct. 7 announcement expands that setup to EURC for qualifying euro-denominated activity. The companies did not disclose participating customers, expected payment volume or a timetable for full commercial deployment.
SAP gives the partnership access to a large business network
The companies presented SAP's enterprise reach as a central part of the agreement. Circle's release says the integration addresses an SAP ecosystem linked to 84% of global commerce.
SAP's July 2026 corporate fact sheet independently states that its customers generate 84% of total global commerce. The document says 99 of the world's 100 largest companies use SAP products, while 86 use SAP S/4HANA.
SAP introduced SAP Pay as part of its push to place payment execution directly inside Cloud ERP. The company says the system can execute and reconcile a payment within the same workflow when an invoice becomes due, reducing manual file handling and reliance on external processing.
For stablecoins, SAP's product documentation says businesses can connect their ERP environment to blockchain payment rails and process payments around the clock. The company promotes almost-instant settlement, though actual settlement times can depend on the blockchain, provider and transaction involved.
Arc will handle the preferred blockchain route
Arc gives the partnership a blockchain developed specifically around Circle's stablecoin infrastructure.
Circle launched Arc's public mainnet on Sept. 16. The network uses USDC for transaction fees and was launched with more than 100 institutional and ecosystem builders. Circle's founding validator group includes Mastercard, Visa, BlackRock, DTCC, Standard Chartered, ICE and other financial firms.
In previous crypto.news coverage, Arc launched with deterministic sub-second settlement, USDC-based gas fees and support for more than 20 fiat stablecoins. Eleven institutional validators initially participated in securing the network.
Circle has since expanded the assets that can move through its cross-chain infrastructure connected with Arc. As crypto.news reported, Circle's Cross-Chain Transfer Protocol now supports native EURC and cirBTC transfers on selected Arc routes alongside USDC.
The Tereina partnership does not require every SAP Pay transaction to settle on Arc. Circle described Arc as the preferred blockchain, while SAP Pay supports several payment rails and lets businesses retain control over payment methods.

USDC already has $74 billion in circulation
Circle's latest reserve data places USDC circulation at $74.1 billion as of Oct. 5, backed by $74.3 billion in total reserves. Circle's transparency page shows $9.4 billion of USDC issued and $10 billion redeemed during the previous seven days.
USDC activity has expanded alongside Circle's institutional payment products. Circle reported $14.8 trillion of USDC on-chain transaction volume during the second quarter of 2026, up 151% from a year earlier. USDC circulation stood at $73.3 billion at the end of that quarter.
Circle Payments Network reached $14.7 billion in annualized transaction volume based on the trailing 30 days at the end of the second quarter. The company reported 175 financial institutions enrolled in the network at the time.
In related crypto.news coverage, Circle expanded its managed payment service so banks and payment firms can use stablecoin settlement without directly managing custody or blockchain infrastructure. Circle handles USDC minting, burning and payment orchestration under that service.
Circle has tested enterprise stablecoin settlement internally as well. As crypto.news previously reported, Circle settled $68 million in transfers between eight corporate entities in less than 30 minutes using USDC and Circle Mint.
Customer trials are the next step
Tereina and Circle plan to run proof-of-value programs with customers during the coming months. They will train treasury and payments specialists and work with ecosystem partners on stablecoin-enabled enterprise payment projects.
Neither company has disclosed which SAP customers will participate first or how many businesses have committed to testing USDC or EURC through the new integration.
Circle CEO Jeremy Allaire said stablecoins are becoming a "core infrastructure layer for global commerce" and described integration with existing business applications as a way to make digital money easier for enterprises to use.
Tereina CEO Cedric Bru said the company wants stablecoin payments to become "a native feature" inside applications businesses already use. The companies have not published transaction-volume targets for the partnership or a date for completing the initial proof-of-value programs.
