Ethereum Registers a Signal Seen Before June's Surge; Will History Repeat Itself?
On-chain data shows that around 170,000 Ethereum units were withdrawn from cryptocurrency exchanges in a single day; an event reminiscent of early June when a massive outflow of Ethereum from exchanges coincided with a local price bottom, after which the market entered a bullish trend.
According to Mihan Blockchain, despite the decrease in Ethereum reserves on exchanges, signs of weak demand are still evident. Spot Ethereum exchange-traded funds (ETFs) in the U.S. recorded approximately $1.18 billion in outflows by October 22, and the Coinbase premium index indicates a decline in the willingness of American buyers. Therefore, a repeat of June's surge is still uncertain.
Santiment Compares Current Conditions with Ethereum's Price Recovery in June
According to the analytics firm Santiment, on June 5, approximately 223,800 Ethereum units were withdrawn from exchanges, coinciding with the price of this cryptocurrency hitting its lowest level since April 2025. Subsequently, the price of Ethereum quickly recovered, and the outflow of capital from exchanges was noted as a sign of a local bottom formation. However, repeating a similar pattern does not necessarily mean repeating the previous outcome. According to Santiment, if Ethereum's outflow from exchanges continues and the price remains within the current range, the reduced supply ready for sale could benefit buyers; although investment fund data indicates that demand still lacks sufficient strength.
Capital Outflows from ETFs and Weak Demand in the U.S.
Based on data from the SoSoValue platform, U.S. spot Ethereum funds have faced net capital outflows in 14 out of 16 trading days in October. The total outflows reached $1.18 billion by October 22, and the total assets of these funds decreased to $14.57 billion, marking the lowest level since August 21.
The Coinbase premium index has also dropped to -0.134 after falling on most days in October. A negative value for this index means Ethereum is trading at a lower price on Coinbase than on Binance; a situation that is typically seen as a sign of weaker demand in the U.S. market. On the other hand, stablecoin reserves on major exchanges have also been on a downward trend since April. This situation could indicate a decrease in liquidity ready to enter the market and purchase Ethereum during price declines.
Analysts Monitor Key Ethereum Price Levels
Santiment analysts consider the $2,400 range to be an important short-term level and believe that a sustained break above $2,500 could strengthen the likelihood of a price bottom formation, while a drop below $2,330 would weaken this scenario.
Michaël van de Poppe also finds the range below $2,300 attractive for market entry. He states:
I buy with maximum capacity in all ranges below $2,300 because I think the price will bounce back quickly from there.
Another analyst named Ash Crypto has also pointed out the formation of an inverse head and shoulders pattern on Ethereum's weekly chart; a pattern that, if completed, could pave the way for price growth.
Overall, continued outflows of Ethereum from exchanges and maintaining a price above $2,330 could keep the possibility of repeating June's scenario alive. However, weak demand and capital outflows from ETFs remain significant obstacles to price recovery.
