EU Updates Veterinary Import Requirements
As of August 12, the European Union is updating the rules for the import of animals, embryo material, and animal products from third countries. Ukrainian exporters are advised to review their production processes, traceability systems, and document preparation for supplies to the EU market. The changes are outlined in the EU Delegated Regulation No. 2026/1052, published on July 23, 2026, and will come into effect 20 days after publication. The regulation updates the import rules for animals, embryo material, and animal products into the EU. In preparing the changes, the practices of the current EU legislation, recommendations from the European Food Safety Authority, and the World Organisation for Animal Health were taken into account. The State Consumer Service noted that Ukrainian operators need to consider the new requirements when organizing production and preparing export documents. In the first half of 2026, Ukraine exported 11,400 tons of beef worth $59,500,000. The largest growth was recorded in the segment of fresh and chilled meat: the volume of supplies increased nearly 33 times, and revenue nearly 41 times.
