Fibre Upgrade Launches Celestia Mainnet, Supporting Blob Data Transfer to Validators
Celestia has announced that Fibre is now live on the mainnet, marking the largest upgrade since Celestia's launch, aimed at bringing finance and agency business on-chain. Fibre supports the direct transfer of Blob data to validators, with only data commitments and validator signatures recorded on-chain to enhance data transfer capacity. Fibre is a new data availability protocol, centered around a novel data encoding scheme called ZODA, which allows its data processing speed to be 881 times faster than protocols based on KZG. In end-to-end benchmarking covering 120 validators, Fibre achieved a sustained throughput of 3.07 Tb/s, with a launch speed of 150 MB/s, approximately 800,000 TPS, which is 15 times the previous capacity of Celestia and can scale on demand as usage increases.
