Five Regions of Ukraine Left Without Electricity
On August 25, due to hostilities and shelling of energy infrastructure, consumers in the Donetsk, Dnipropetrovsk, Kherson, Chernihiv, and Sumy regions were temporarily left without electricity supply. Energy workers are operating in an intensified mode to restore electricity supply as quickly as possible, with restoration work continuing around the clock. No forecasts for restrictions on August 25 are expected. Consumers have been urged to use electricity sparingly during peak hours to reduce the load on the system. The summer of 2026 in Ukraine is characterized by energy balancing, despite optimistic forecasts. The main risks remain shelling and heat coinciding with scheduled repairs at nuclear power plants. The development of solar generation cannot fully cover the deficit due to a lack of industrial batteries for evening peaks. Power outages of up to 5 hours a day are possible during simultaneous heat and new attacks on energy infrastructure.
