Genesis Block-Based Puzzle Offers 142,779 Satoshis
A wallet puzzle message utilizing Genesis Block data has been recorded on the Bitcoin chain, with a jackpot of 142,779 satoshis as of August 29, 2026. Galaxy Research reported that a 255-byte OP_RETURN message was recorded in block 963,629. This block was mined on August 23, 2026, at 4:45 AM Korean time. The message creator mentioned that they created the wallet using Genesis Block information, but the identity of the creator and the key derivation method have not been confirmed. OP_RETURN is an output format used to leave arbitrary data in Bitcoin transactions. The total transaction size is 500 bytes, with a fee of 250 satoshis and a fee rate of 0.60 sat/vB. The puzzle's witness script is multi-signature, requiring two keys. It was noted that the two keys were independently derived from the same field of the Genesis Block, and no hashes were used. The scale of the puzzle reward is more of a technical curiosity rather than significantly impacting Bitcoin market prices. The Genesis Block, which is block 0 and the starting point of the Bitcoin chain, includes the phrase 'The Times 03/Jan/2009 Chancellor on brink of second bailout for banks' in its coinbase. This incident serves as a follow-up clue to the puzzle message utilizing Genesis Block data, and it will remain a technical enigma until a valid spending transaction or signature proof emerges.
