Justin Sun Addresses Binance HTX Blacklist Restrictions
Justin Sun stated that Binance's restrictions on HTX only affect users in the UK and the European Union, despite Binance's notice not specifying such limits. As the August 23 cutoff approaches, Sun mentioned that HTX is already in settlement talks with British and EU authorities. He communicated that affected users can reach out to HTX customer service for assistance with individual cases. Binance's notice applied to all users without naming specific countries, indicating that transactions involving the listed platforms may undergo compliance reviews after the effective dates. The announcement restricted 11 platforms. Sun's assertion about HTX's limited UK operations contrasts with the Financial Conduct Authority's (FCA) claim that HTX received 4.6 million visits from the UK in 2023, ranking it sixth among virtual asset firms accessed from Britain. HTX only limited new UK sign-ups after the FCA initiated legal action. The settlement discussions are ongoing, with a High Court stay in the FCA case lasting until August 25, while HTX negotiates over illegal advertising. The deadline is tight as Binance will cut off HTX on August 23, just two days before the London stay expires.
