Poland Threatens Musk to Reconsider $50 Million Payment for Starlink Due to Discrimination
Poland's Foreign Minister Radoslaw Sikorski has stated that Polish Starlink users are facing discrimination and warned of a possible reconsideration of the annual payment of $50 million for services. Sikorski reacted to SpaceX's changes in rules that excluded Poland from the general European region, complicating and increasing the cost of internet access for Poles abroad. Deputy Prime Minister Krzysztof Gawkowski described the new rules as unfair, noting that since August 17, Polish Starlink Roam users will face additional formalities and document checks. Gawkowski emphasized that Poland should not be considered a second-class country if it is paying for services. If SpaceX does not change its standards, Polish authorities may take economic measures. The new rules could lead to higher rates for Polish users during extended trips abroad. Poland continues to support the operation of Starlink in Ukraine, providing internet for critical facilities.
