Revolut Euro Stablecoin Trials for Customers in Denmark, Poland, and Portugal
Revolut Euro (EURR) has entered a phased trial for select eligible customers in Denmark, Poland, and Portugal. This stablecoin is designed to facilitate the movement between fiat currencies and cryptocurrencies within the Revolut app, maintaining a stable value of 1 euro. The legal issuer is not Revolut but Bridge Building S.A., an electronic money institution based in Luxembourg. Revolut announced the trial on its official blog on August 8, confirming an initial supply of around 369 units. The euro stablecoin market is smaller than the dollar stablecoin market, with a market capitalization of $765 million in the euro stablecoin category, according to CoinGecko. The Revolut Euro is currently in its initial trial phase and is significant for introducing stablecoins into customer services. There are risks associated with the issuance structure, and holders of the Revolut Euro can claim redemption at face value from Bridge Building, but the procedures and conditions follow separate terms. There is also a possibility of ticker confusion, as StablR Euro also exists under the EURR ticker.
