RWA: CZ Wants States to Tokenize Everything to Attract Foreign Capital
A slogan, a conviction repeated for months. Changpeng Zhao once again called on governments to "tokenize everything" on Friday on X, presenting tokenization as one of the best levers for a country to attract foreign direct investment. The founder of Binance has been pushing this idea since the beginning of the year, with a constant argument: which country or company would refuse to sell its tokenized shares to investors around the world? Key points of this article: * Changpeng Zhao has urged governments to tokenize everything to attract foreign investments. * Binance has already engaged in concrete discussions with several governments to tokenize their sovereign assets. CZ is not new to the subject. In January, during a panel at the World Economic Forum in Davos, he claimed to be in discussions with more than a dozen governments to tokenize their sovereign assets, whether they are government bonds, commodities, or public real estate, according to Cryptonews. He then presented tokenization as the logical next step for two sectors already proven at scale: exchanges and stablecoins. In June, he tightened his message regarding the stock markets themselves. Countries, according to him, have every interest in allowing buyers from around the world to access their stock markets rather than confining them to a local audience. Binance naturally hopes to become one of the entry points for this global liquidity. CZ is currently advising the Crypto Council of Pakistan and Kyrgyzstan on such initiatives, and Binance has obtained authorization to develop a crypto market in Kazakhstan. The message therefore goes beyond mere public posturing and is accompanied by concrete mandates with several governments. BNB Chain, the large-scale testing ground The speech is supported by figures that lend weight to the thesis. BNB Chain saw its number of tokenized asset holders soar from 400,000 to 524,000 in just three days in mid-August, a 31% increase that the network itself described as an "absolute acceleration," according to Crypto Briefing. For the year, growth reaches +567%. CZ supports a multi-chain approach rather than locking into a single network. However, he himself acknowledges the downside of this openness: multiplying blockchains and issuers risks fragmenting liquidity instead of concentrating it. Better interoperability between tokenized assets could mitigate this problem, though it would not fully resolve it. The gap between rhetoric and regulatory reality The irony is not lost on anyone. CZ sells the states a vision of financial openness without borders, while his own platform still has to convince regulators, country by country, that it can manage this openness without undermining investor rights. Global liquidity cannot bypass national rules on securities, anti-money laundering, or investor protection. The core of the argument remains solid: a tokenized asset trades 24 hours a day, settles faster than a traditional bank transfer, and allows for fractional ownership. But between the stated ambition and the authorization obtained market by market, the gap remains, for now, the true measure of the journey still to be undertaken.
