Stellar Announces Dates for Quantum-Resistant Signature Plan
Stellar aims to prepare smart accounts for corporate use, lay the groundwork for quantum-resistant signatures, and accelerate the ledger structure with the Bell protocol update. The network's testnet and mainnet voting is scheduled for November 3, 2026, and November 23, 2026, at 17:00 UTC. Following the release of Stellar Core v30.0.0 last week, new versions for infrastructure components and software development kits are expected. The Bell update includes changes under Protocol 30 and renews the ledger header format within the framework of CAP 88. It has been noted that developers may not be able to parse Protocol 30 ledgers with older SDK versions. The new SDK packages offer updated XDR definitions and support for the new multi-signature contract address type with W strkey support. It is anticipated that company wallets will transition to quantum-resistant signing through Soroban contract accounts within 2026. Stellar aims to transition the network to quantum-resistant cryptography with its Quantum Preparedness Plan announced in June 2026. The plan focuses on two main risk areas: network integrity and the risk of account takeover. XLM has risen by 4.80% in the last 24 hours to $0.183.
