The Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) of Thailand has stated that several asset management companies have consulted on launching a spot cryptocurrency ETF, but no asset management firm has yet submitted an application for approval to establish a crypto ETF. The SEC did not disclose the names of the companies involved. The SEC pointed out that it is currently uncertain whether the first batch of products can be approved by the end of 2026, as the specific timeline depends on the preparedness of the applicants, regulatory reviews, and investor protection requirements. Thailand's new crypto ETF rules took effect on Friday, allowing asset management firms to establish locally listed spot Bitcoin and Ethereum ETFs.
