TOKEN2049 Singapore Sets Organizational DeFi Agenda for 2026
The TOKEN2049 event in Singapore is scheduled for October 7-8, 2026, featuring confirmed speakers from Nasdaq, BlackRock, and Franklin Templeton, alongside senior executives from Hyperliquid, Solana, Polygon, Base, and Ethereum-related projects. This agenda indicates a primary focus on "organizational DeFi" and "on-chain market infrastructures."
The official list of speakers includes:
- Adena Friedman, President and CEO of Nasdaq
- Nikhil Sharma, Head of Digital Assets at BlackRock
- Jenny Johnson, CEO of Franklin Templeton
- Amy Oldenburg, Head of Digital Asset Strategy at Morgan Stanley
The roles of these individuals place traditional financial firms directly alongside native crypto players in the event's programming.
In the developers (builders) section, the list includes Jeff Yan from Hyperliquid Labs, Jesse Pollak from Base, Lily Liu from the Solana Foundation, Sandeep Nailwal from the Polygon Foundation, and Joseph Lubin representing Ethereum and MetaMask. Additionally, executives associated with Aave, Ethena, Synthetix, StarkWare, and Offchain Labs are present in this list, covering the practical applications of DeFi, blockchain networks, and scalability infrastructures.
This program highlights the overlap and intersection of traditional and decentralized sectors in a session titled "DeFi's Institutional Breakthrough." In this session, Stani Kulechov from Aave Labs, Guy Young from Ethena Labs, and Kain Warwick, founder of Infinex/Synthetix, will engage in discussions moderated by Robbie Petersen from the a16z crypto fund.
In a separate session related to Hyperliquid, Jeff Yan, the CEO of this derivatives-focused platform, will take the main stage. These listings all testify to the centrality of in-depth discussions at this meeting.
As financial firms evaluate on-chain products, custody, execution, and operational controls remain part of the infrastructural challenges. These considerations are distinct from the protocols themselves and play a crucial role in how to adapt the custody of organizational keys and execute transactions in on-chain finance.
TOKEN2049 Singapore's Official Agenda Emphasizes DeFi and Market Design
The agenda for October 7 begins with a welcome speech from 9:00 to 9:10 AM on the main stage of OKX. Following that, a keynote speech by Balaji Srinivasan titled "The Open Source Network State" will be delivered from 9:10 to 9:30 AM, after which the event's agenda will shift towards topics such as investment, decentralized finance, and trading infrastructures.
The session "DeFi's Institutional Breakthrough" is scheduled from 10:20 to 11:00 AM on the main stage of OKX. The next session, titled "Hyperliquid: Rebuilding Finance from the Ground Up," will take place from 11:00 to 11:35 AM. Other notable topics include "Wall Street 2049: Everything is Traded, No One Sleeps," "The New Trifecta: Private, Compliant, and Composable," and "On-Chain Options, Derivatives, and the U.S. Market."
The diversity of topics is quite remarkable: privacy and regulatory compliance are placed alongside discussions of derivatives and 24-hour trading, while the institutional DeFi panel examines how more established financial participants might interact with on-chain markets. This agenda also includes a dedicated gathering on October 8 titled TOKEN2049 Institutional, which the organizers describe as a private invitation-only event for senior leaders in global finance and digital assets.
The presence of Hyperliquid also reflects the increasing overlap between crypto trading platforms and the infrastructures of professional and institutional markets. This platform is the subject of one of the main discussions, and separate reports have examined Hyperliquid data in the Bloomberg terminal; however, none of these facts alone confirm a business relationship between the companies present at the conference.
Tokenization is another thread running through institutional financial discussions. The transfer of securities to blockchain infrastructures could fundamentally change how assets are issued and traded in the future.
