Ukrenergo Begins Restructuring Eurobonds Worth $825 Million
The National Energy Company Ukrenergo has started the restructuring of its debt obligations on bonds amounting to $825 million. This became possible due to a resolution from the Cabinet of Ministers regarding a state guarantee proposed by the Ministry of Energy. The transmission system operator initiated the restructuring process for bonds issued in 2021. An official request to bondholders to support the restructuring terms has been published on the London Stock Exchange, with the transaction expected to be completed in October. A successful restructuring will create financial conditions for the restoration of high-voltage substations damaged as a result of Russian shelling and reduce pressure on tariffs for electricity transmission services for end consumers. It was previously reported that Ukrenergo's electricity transmission tariff could increase by 25% from August 1, 2026, to UAH 928.45 per MWh excluding VAT.
