In September, producer prices in the U.S. semiconductor and other electronic component manufacturing industry surged 26% year-on-year, marking the fourth largest increase on record. This index has achieved at least a 25% year-on-year increase for six consecutive months. Since July 2025, the Producer Price Index (PPI) for the semiconductor and other electronic component manufacturing industry has risen a cumulative 31%, reaching the second highest level since January 2007. In contrast, this index had been on a downward trend annually from 1994 to 2021. Last month, producer prices for electronic components and accessories skyrocketed 27%, also marking the sixth consecutive month of at least a 25% year-on-year increase.
