Used Car Imports in Ukraine Decreased by 8.1% in August 2026
Prefer us on GoogleIn August 2026, 21,256 used passenger cars were registered as imported from abroad. Imports decreased by 8.1% compared to July and by 8.3% compared to August 2025. The main reasons for the decline are seasonal lull and market saturation in price segments. Volkswagen remains the leader among imported cars, while Tesla has surpassed KIA, Hyundai, and Skoda, ranking 7th. In the top 10 models, Ukrainians preferred SUVs, with the Volkswagen Tiguan in first place. The ranking also includes three electric models: Tesla Model Y, Model 3, and Nissan Leaf, which together accounted for nearly 10% of the total ranking. The distribution by powertrains is as follows: gasoline cars - 46%, diesel - 24%, electric vehicles - 21%, hybrids - 5%, gas - 4%. The share of electric vehicles is close to that of diesel due to the high cost of diesel fuel, exceeding 90 UAH per liter. In July 2026, sales of new passenger cars decreased by 10.5%, totaling 5,754 units.
