Iore Acquires Cryptocurrency HYPE, First Acquisition by a Listed Company in Japan
Iore, listed on the Tokyo Stock Exchange Growth Market, announced on the 28th that it has purchased Hyper Liquid (HYPE).
First Acquisition Case by a Listed Company in Japan
The company conducted this acquisition as part of its next-generation financial infrastructure initiative, "Neo Crypto Bank."
According to the official announcement, approximately 10 million yen was invested to acquire about 1,078 HYPE tokens, with an average acquisition price of around 9,353 yen per token.
This marks the first case of a publicly listed company in Japan holding Hyper Liquid as a strategic digital asset. The company plans to proceed with a phased acquisition while carefully considering market trends and liquidity.
By the end of August 2026, it plans to purchase a total of 100 million yen in multiple installments. This phased approach is seen as a strategy to manage price fluctuation risks appropriately.
The company already holds Bitcoin (BTC), and this move aims to diversify its portfolio without relying on specific assets.
It aims to strengthen its digital asset management system while ensuring compliance with laws and safety in its business operations. The company will also keep an eye on the trends of institutional investors in overseas markets to enhance its competitiveness.
Strategy Aimed at an AI Agent Economic Sphere
The background of this acquisition is the rapid expansion forecast of an economic sphere where AI agents autonomously conduct payments and contracts.
The company believes that on-chain finance utilizing blockchain will be an essential infrastructure in a society where AI becomes a major economic entity.
Rather than aiming for short-term trading profits, it is poised to enhance corporate value in the medium to long term.
Hyper Liquid is the native token of a Layer 1 blockchain specialized in finance. It has the capability to process thousands of transactions in less than 100 milliseconds per second and boasts high Ethereum compatibility.
This high-speed and low-latency design has been evaluated as having a strong affinity with AI-driven financial operations. The fee income and incentive design at the protocol level also have characteristics that differ from typical assets.
The company is considering monetizing its holdings of cryptocurrencies through lending.
Additionally, it is looking into hedging price fluctuation risks through traditional financial markets and integrating with its own services.
It aims to strengthen the foundation of its Web3 business and promote the construction of new financial infrastructure. The plan is not just to hold assets but to directly link them to actual product development.
