IMF Forecasts Ukraine's GDP Growth to 3.5% by 2027
The International Monetary Fund (IMF) forecasts Ukraine's real GDP growth at 1% in 2026, accelerating to 3.5% in 2027, according to the October World Economic Outlook (WEO) report. In June 2026, the IMF lowered its GDP growth forecast for the current year to 1-1.6%. The April report anticipated a growth rate of 2%, while at the end of February, when a new EFF program was approved, the forecast was set at 1.8-2.5%. Expectations for 2027 were revised in June-July, and the assessment was confirmed in the October report. Inflation, which was 8% in 2025, may accelerate to 10.5% in 2026, and is expected to decrease to 8% in 2027. The current account deficit forecast suggests a reduction from 16% of GDP in 2025 to 11% in 2026 and 4.7% in 2027. The unemployment rate is expected to decrease from 11.6% in 2025 to 10.2% in 2026, but may rise to 11.3% in 2027. Forecasts from other international institutions are more cautious: the World Bank expects Ukraine's GDP growth to be 1.5% in 2027, while the EBRD has lowered its forecast to 1.5% for 2026 and 2.5% for 2027.
