Liquid Suspends L-BTC Redemptions After Attack, Attacker Holds Over $51 Million in Bitcoin
Bull Bitcoin has stated that due to the attack on the Liquid Network on September 6, users are currently unable to redeem L-BTC back to Bitcoin, and the redemption operations are still pending restoration. Bull Bitcoin anticipates that the related exchange services may resume within 30 days, but this is not guaranteed. The platform has temporarily closed inbound Lightning Network payments due to reliance on the L-BTC redemption mechanism to balance inventory. During this attack, the attacker withdrew nearly 4,000 Bitcoins from the protocol, returning about 3,400 Bitcoins afterward, and currently still holds 598.50 Bitcoins, valued at over $51 million. Liquid Network announced on September 17 that block production, network transactions, and L-BTC transfers have returned to normal.
