Slash Card Now Available for Payment with USDC, Open to the Public
Key Points of This Article
- Slash Card ends pre-registration and is now open to the public
- Supports identity verification with driver's license and biometric authentication
- Plans to introduce a card ranking system with up to 1.5% cashback
General Applications Begin with Dedicated App Release
On the 15th, Singapore's Slash Vision (SLASH VISION PTE. LTD.) officially released the smartphone app "Slash App." At the same time, they ended the pre-registration system for the card "Slash Card," which allows payments with stablecoins, and switched to general public availability. Interested users can apply directly through the app.
The Slash Card is a Visa card that uses the USDC stablecoin, which is pegged to the US dollar, as its payment source. It is operated in partnership with Slash Vision, Orient Corporation (Orico), and Aikitas, and will begin issuing cards on April 20, 2026. Initially, it was only available to pre-registered users.
Users can manage their assets in their own wallets while using the card for payments at Visa-affiliated merchants both domestically and internationally. There is no need to convert USDC to yen for each transaction, and merchants receive payments in legal currency just like regular card transactions. The company claims it is Japan's first Visa card utilizing USDC.
Supports Identity Verification with Driver's License
The Slash App is a self-custody wallet that allows users to store stablecoins and manage card applications and payments. Self-custody means that users manage their assets themselves without depositing them with exchanges. The app inherits features previously offered as a web app and is compatible with both iOS and Android. Development and operation are handled by the Japanese subsidiary, Slash Vision Japan.
The app has added three new features, with a focus on expanding identity verification methods. Previously, it only supported My Number cards, preventing those without one from using the card, but now it can also verify with a driver's license. It also supports login via facial recognition and fingerprint authentication, allowing users to replace app startup and PIN entry with biometric authentication. A referral program has also been introduced, where referrers receive the equivalent of $10 for each friend they refer who completes their first payment.
Introduction of Three-Tier Card Ranking System
The Slash Card plans to establish three card tiers: Virtual, Normal, and Premium. Tier Points will be awarded based on subscription memberships and lending amounts, determining the benefits for each rank. The Premium rank is expected to offer up to 1.5% cashback, although the details and figures may change.
