Tom Lee Criticizes AI Panic, Claims Reality Is Not as Bad as Imagined

Tom Lee, chairman of the Ethereum treasury company Bitmine, shared an analysis of Texas data center policy, stating that Texas gubernatorial candidate Gina Hinojosa indicated that all currently permitted data center projects can continue construction, expected to cover most of 2027 and 2028. This is not entirely consistent with her previous proposal to pause new data center approvals. Tom Lee questioned the AI panic, believing that the market's pessimistic expectations regarding artificial intelligence are greatly exaggerated, and the reality is far from as bad as described by outsiders. He pointed out that the current negative sentiment surrounding AI shows a clear deviation from reality, and the market's concerns about AI development may have exceeded the actual risks. Yesterday, the AI industry chain sector in the U.S. stock market faced a comprehensive sell-off, with declines extending from chips and storage to data center network equipment, optical communications, AI cloud computing, and power suppliers. Subsequently, Asian stock markets also fell sharply, following the sell-off trend of U.S. stocks.
