Pocket Bitcoin Data Breach Affects 291 Customers
Pocket Bitcoin reported that the data of 291 customers was affected in a breach that occurred on August 31. The company stated that private keys were not exposed, ensuring the safety of customer funds. The leaked information includes names, mailing addresses, Bitcoin addresses used in transactions, copies of identification documents, and records of the source of funds. Most affected customers had only partial information leaked. Bitcoin addresses are public, and linking them to real identities could lead to privacy issues. Although the leaked data cannot be directly used to transfer Bitcoin, there is a risk of scams being carried out using this information. Pocket Bitcoin advises users to be vigilant against potential fraudulent activities. The company clarified that the customer database and transaction database were not compromised, and affected customers have been notified regarding the leaked data.
